Since the Longhorns were playing in that very prestigious bowl game in San Antonio we decided to make a weekend of it and stay with Aunt Nikki.
We had to make our Buc-ee's stop.
Shawn stayed with Graysen so the girls could go to the game.
I love that my Baylor friend proudly wears burnt orange.
That win was a nice ending to a dismal season.
We stayed up late telling stories and sharing laughs.
Shawn took Graysen on a sightseeing tour while we were at the game. His great grand-father built this house.
They visited the land his Grandma was born and raised on.
The next morning was a lazy Sunday morning watching football.
And being girls.
Nikki's house is in an amazing neighborhood with lots of deer. G loved watching them in the backyard.
We watched the Redskins-Cowboys game out and Baylor Sara had to represent RG3. Nikki was starting to get tired of the football talk.
Nikki went into work on the 31st and we went on another trip down memory lane. This was the house Shawn grew up in.
Graysen had her first Chris Madrid's experience.
And we stopped by Grandpa Peters grave.
Then it was time to celebrate the end of a great year and the beginning of a new one.
She really wanted to take pics with us.
We had a great time. There was lots of laughing, dancing, and meeting new friends. I continued to show Nikki that I am a sensitive mess since I had a baby by crying because the year was over. I was sad to see it go. We had so many great memories but we were already making new ones for 2013.
We ended our trip with another fabulous meal by Nikki and some deer feeding by Graysen.
I love Nikki's house. It really feels like home and it was hard for us to leave but we will be back.
