First Recital

I had thought of this moment from the first time I heard we were having a girl. After a year of dance it was finally time for her first recital.

First, we had a rehearsal at the studio.

Then, we had rehearsal at the school.

We had celebratory Dairy Queen after it was over. It was her first time there and she loved it.

Finally, it was the day we had been waiting for.
Recital Day!

It was kind of a fun rush in the door to try and get the best seats.

Even though I had already seen a run through once I couldn't stop a few tears from falling. After it was over, the Mom's all rushed out to get our girls, and I was happy to see I wasn't the only one with wet eyes.

They were just so cute with their little trophies.

She felt the love.

Very proud Mommy.

We were both very overwhelmed at the support of our friends and family. What a blessing to have so many people love and support our girl during our proudest parenting moment yet.

Anniversary and Mother's Day

To celebrate our 11 year anniversary we had a night in town at the hotel we had our reception at.

Our sweet friends had champagne sent to our room. It was such a thoughtful surprise.

I took the stress of planning the night away from Shawn (it is his anniversary too) and scheduled dinner and an interesting show.

I love the shuttle cars at the Zaza. I take this picture every time I stay there.

The end of the night picture.

The next day was Mother's Day and we met the sisters in town at one of my favorite places. Shawn surprised me by making reservations at Backstreet Cafe.

Graysen brought me flowers and told me Happy Mudder's Day about a 100 times.

Daddy tried to take a nap when we got home but we kept that from happening.

He finally gave up and we ended the day swimming.

I am spoiled. He couldn't just send one arrangement for both days.

It was a weekend full of love.

Tessa's 3rd Birthday

This weekend we headed to Ft. Worth for Tessa's 3rd birthday. We stopped at the Sam Houston statue which I had never done before. Shawn wanted to teach Graysen about her Texas heritage.

No Speer road trip is complete without a stop at Shawn's favorite gas station.
It didn't take long for Grant and Shawn to do some redecorating while Lee was outside.

Leila learned to climb the tree the day before and she was very happy to show everyone her new skills.

I love this picture of these two-in deep conversation while sharing some watermelon.
Big Popa giving G a temporary tattoo.
I don't think Addison was happy I gave her away.

A group hug in the trampoline.

Graysen wanted to get a pair of her favorite shoes for Tessa and she loved them.

It was then time to head home. All of her friends watched Frozen in the back with her while I watched the Rockets and the Astros win. I was so grateful for all the driving Shawn did so I could be home since I wasn't feeling well. He enjoyed trying to make it home in 3 1/2 hours.
